the sound files one at a time and with precision)īut you have to consider a few things, what are you trying to achieve? Are you willing to multi track record the TD-30 to get a more hifi sound out of it?, then It doesn't work this way. So that leaves you with the solution Jammin777 described, to record the TD-30 in multi track, you need to buy a multi track audio interface and connect each individual TD-30 output to it, and then record in a DAW (as opposed to your sound editor software, a DAW can sequence multiple tracks at once, that's basically what a DAW is as opposed to the sound editor software which is made for recording cutting splitting treating manipulating etc. If you except some advanced use of multi MIDI track drum editing (I don't describe here but this is not what you are looking for right now), there is no advantage at all to span the data of one MIDI track over more channels than the one it has been recorded to. But you have no reason to record multiple track for that, and the TD-30 only sends drums events on MIDI channel 10 (conventionally channel 10 is for drums on the MIDI definition chart, so that's why, but you can set to another channel), and it sends all the MIDI data properly to one MIDI track, with all the things you played. Recording MIDI can be useful to compose a song in a MIDI sequencer or DAW, and you are then able to edit the "score" (the MIDI data) very precisely to correct for mistakes for instance, or add parts, etc. So that you can later play it back on any given machine able to read these MIDI data and interpret it with its own sound generator. Then MIDI is another protocol, it has nothing to do with sound but with notes, it's a way to record digitally the musical score if you will, it writes for instance : time T of this 4X4 was played an event which is a note (note C2) at velocity 80 for a duration of 1 measure. USB protocol supports up to 32ins/outs tracks simultaneously but the TD-30 USB is limited to a stereo mix in and out. i dont want to relearn a new DAW as i really like audition. the issue is that audition does not support ezdrummer as a host so i dont plan on recording till i buy the alesis strike if it pans out or 2 box drumit 5 to load my VST's in. Not sure how it records via usb as i never tried it yet as i'm not sure if you can get 7 or 8 track from usb.Īlso i record audio as i never had a reason to to record midi until possibly now as i just recently delve in the world of triggering ezdrummer 2. a year ago i replaced the delta 1010lt for a zoom r24 to use as a audio interface and mixer controller but unfortunately i haven't used it yet. i ve had great results recording this way as the signal thru the multi channel outs are dry signals being recorded so that i can eq them the add direct x effects such as reverb, BBE, compression ext. A td30 owner my self and also a user of adobe audition 3.01, i went 7 outs from the module to m-audio delta 1010lt 1 out for each of the following, kick, snare, hats, rack toms, floor toms, crash cymbals and ride.
